Blogs are something that can be used on a daily basis, the effectiveness of the blog really depends on structure and content (appropriate to the audience). Personally, I enjoy artists blogs, or even better, video blogs. Overall, I think I am warming up to the idea of a typical blog, but I am still some-what stand-offish because anyone can read what you write, and that terrifies me.
Post Secrets, was one of the first blogs that I read, and in all honesty, I picked it because the name was different. This blog doesn't have many words, just pictures of postcards where people confess their secrets anonymously.
Scrolling through all these confessions I found myself fascinated by strangers secrets. The words on the cards are virtually the only words on the page and it fits perfectly for the overall tone and feel of this blog. Truthfully, this blog was by far my favorite because it was just super interesting and was different than all of the rest. I think being different is the best way to catch someone's attention, especially when they are surfing the internet and just run across something random.
Another blog I found, is called AMERICA blog It is a political blog that shares the news going on in our country. This blog is a much more professional, because its dealing with big issues and with very real problems. This blog honestly felt like I was reading the news which I really did not enjoy, mostly because I feel like the news is extremely negative, or it is just all politics. knowing that about myself when I looked at this blog most likely affected my openness towards it, but at the same time it was interesting to see someone's point of view on things other than the mainstream news media on a daily basis.
Now I want to check out Post Secrets! It sounds like a really cool blog. I also love the pictures you included.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your opinion of video blogs. They can be an extremely effective way to relay information. However, just because it's a video blog doesn't make it a good blog.

ReplyDeleteI do agree that writing blogs are pretty scary because anyone is able to read what you write, but I feel blogs are a good way to express who they truly are, especially with today's society.

ReplyDeleteGood job of establishing the context at the start of this post. Make sure to read the specifics of the assigned entries - I wanted you to analyze 3 different blogs, not just 2.
